Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Bloomington-Normal Airport, IL

The location was convenient for a traveler coming off a long highway trip. It was relatively easy to find, and close to cafes/places where I could quickly find coffee and gas. This was particularly helpful given the limited breakfast hours. I appreciated the cleanliness of the bedroom and bathroom, the ample amount of towels and soaps, and the comfortable bed.

Everything. Obviously this isn’t a 5* hotel but it felt like it. It was clean, my room (208) was massive. It could have fit another king bed in it and maybe a twin. The staff was great. I was thoroughly impressed. The breakfast was good (juice, yogurt, muffins, cereal, make your own waffles, biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage).

Hotel is in a good location with plenty of parking, and easy to find for someone not familiar with the area. Hotel and room were both clean, and the couple staff members I dealt with were all very nice and helpful. Room and bathroom were both good size. Plenty of outlets (both socket and USB), a microwave, and a mini fridge.

This hotel is in the very final stages of a complete refresh, so it felt like a brand new hotel! They are still working on it but at this moment it is probably 95% complete. I say they are working on it because the big dumpster and storage containers are still there, but inside there was no evidence of a remodel. Our room and floor were already 100% complete, as was the lobby and breakfast area. I paid about 1/3 less than other hotels I looked at, and my expectation was that it was going to be in disrepair, with the classic signs of an older hotel: peeling wallpaper, fixtures loose in the bathroom, scratches & dents on the furniture, etc. These are things that happen with use but don't really affect the hotel experience as much (my priorities are quiet, dark, and a comfortable bed, and it met all of these with 5 stars). So I came in with low expectations because of the lower price, and left doubly surprised and pleased. Indeed, I can only expect that once this refresh is complete and the dust is cleared away, the price will probably climb up to par with the other hotels in its class in this area. I got lucky... a GREAT place to stay at a much lower price than I expected.
